Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Philippines featured Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) in its official Facebook page last April 24, 2020. The article was about the two young video bloggers of PSAU who made their entry as finalist in the July 2019 JICA Video Blog Contest with the theme “How does Japan and JICA's work in the Philippines impact my life?”
PSAU and Kuwanosato, Inc., a Japanese private company, partnered with JICA in putting up a mulberry tea factory within the university campus. Farmers within the region were encouraged to be part of the said project as mulberry plant producers to help gain additional source of income. Mr. Ariel Dizon, one of the mulberry plant farmers, was also featured by JICA Philippines on February 10, 2020 to promote to other farmers the benefit of mulberry farming in the lucrative mulberry tea market.
In the said JICA video blog contest, PSAU students Angel Jos Supan and Allen Hendrix Supan created their vlog by describing the preparation and the traditional procedures on how to make the mulberry tea. Part of the video describes the role of JICA and how it has helped PSAU to have its very own mulberry tea production facility. (MCA Dela Cruz)
