Magalang, Pampanga – Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) president, Dr. Honorio M. Soriano Jr., last August 8, 2020 on a project that can accurately detect and effectively manage, control and contain emerging animal diseases.
The project entitled “DNA Analysis for Accurate Diagnosis of Emerging Deadly Viruses Among Agri-Fisheries in Central Luzon” has been approved by the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural Research, amounting to Php 6,415,840.00. This project is expected to provide information that can be used by drug manufacturing industries to build custom design vaccines that specifically target the viral strains present in the locale.
PSAU’s team to complete this project are Mr. Jacob Anderson C. Sanchez (ADDRF Manager and Project Leader), Dr. Geraldine C. Sanchez (ADDRF Research Veterinarian), Dr. Rogelio P. Carandang (ADDRF Research Veterinarian), Mr. Walter L. Pacunana (ADDRF Fishery Researcher), Ms. Anabelle O. Galang (ADDRF Researcher – Information and Dissemination), Mr. Clarklouis C. Sanchez (ADDRF Researcher – Information and Dissemination) and Dr. Honorio M. Soriano Jr. (ADDRF Consultant/Adviser).
