Eight PSAU-CVM faculty members attended the 86th Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) Scientific Conference and Annual Convention held at the Iloilo Convention Center, Iloilo City on February 20-22, 2019. The faculty members were: Dr. Jorge Villamil, Dr. Geraldine Sanchez, Dr. Maria Fe Bulao, Dr. Precy Magtoto, Dr. Rogelio Carandang Jr., Dr. Monica Gonzales, Dr. Neil Tanquilut and Dr. Remedios San Jose. The three-day event themed, “Quality Animal Care for a Quality Life” aimed to equip veterinarians the skills and knowledge related to their fields of specialization by conducting various activities and technical sessions.

Dr. Villamil and Dr. Tanquilut shared their expertise during the technical break-out sessions through their paper presentations on “Managing Bovine Reproduction and Fertility” and “Risk-based Quarantine Assessment of Biosecurity in Broiler Farms in Central Luzon”, respectively. The faculty members also actively participated in the poster presentations with Dr. Tanquilut’s poster on “Defining the Importance of Dogs Under One Year of Age in Rabies Control and Prevention: Local Community Experience in Selected Barangays in Magalang, Pampanga” and Dr. San Jose’s poster which tackled ”Pet Owners’ Awareness on RA 9482 (Anti-Rabies Act of 2007) in Magalang, Pampanga”.

The next PVMA will be held at SMX Convention Center, Davao City on February 19-21, 2020.
