PSAU Reinforces Commitment to Sustainability Through USAN CL Initiative
The 1st Quarter Hybrid Meeting of the Universities Sustainable Development Goals Action Network – Central Luzon (USAN CL) was held on February 24, 2025, at Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU), bringing together key stakeholders to advance sustainability initiatives in higher education.
Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) joined Mabalacat City College (MCC), City College of San Fernando (CCSF), Guagua Community College (GCC), City College of Angeles (CCA), and DHVSU in strengthening collaborative efforts for sustainability-driven education. The initiative also received support from Future Earth Philippines and national experts in science and innovation.
One of the key highlights of the meeting was the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), formalizing the commitment of participating institutions to sustainability-focused collaboration. Dr. Gerald M. Salas represented PSAU President Dr. Anita G. David during the signing, reinforcing PSAU’s dedication to integrating sustainability into its academic and institutional strategies.
Insights from National Scientist Dr. Lourdes Cruz and Dr. Segundo Romero emphasized the importance of leveraging science and technology for sustainable solutions. Led by PSTO-Pampanga Provincial S&T Director Mary Michelle Quiambao, the initiative aligns with provincial priorities and strengthens institutional collaboration.
This effort is anchored in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). These goals guide PSAU’s initiatives, ensuring that education, research, and community engagement contribute to long-term sustainability and global development.
PSAU remains committed to sustainability and innovation, ensuring its academic and research programs contribute to meaningful and lasting development. The next USAN CL assembly will assess progress and explore further opportunities for impact.
