On April 11, 2025, the Pampanga State Agricultural University, through its National Service Training Program (NSTP) with the Office for Public Affairs and International Linkages (OPAIL), successfully conducted the “Knowledge Sharing on Volunteerism with US Peace Corps Volunteers” at the UFC Building, 2nd Floor. The event served as a platform to promote the spirit of volunteerism featuring inspiring insights from Peace Corps volunteers assigned in different areas in Tarlac, Emir Sicangco of Tarlac State University, Mr. Ricky Taylor of MSWDO Pura, Mr. Ernie Arao of Vessels of Humanity, and Dr. Aida Lapira of Peace Corps Volunteer at PSAU.
The program was attended by NSTP students and facilitators both on-site and online, showcasing the university’s commitment to inclusive learning and engagement. Special thanks is extended to the PSAU Student Ambassadors for their dedicated assistance in logistics, welcoming of guests, and co-emceeing the program, truly embodying the university’s values of service and leadership. Appreciation is also given to Mr. Gerald Christian Tamo for serving as the main emcee and helping sustain the program’s engaging flow and energy and to Ma’am Gemmarie Munoz, NSTP Coordinator and Sir Jomar Baricante of MIS Unit who provided essential technical support to ensure the seamless flow of the hybrid event.
Students are encouraged to take the first step toward becoming active volunteers—whether through local outreach or school-based initiatives. For those who wish to learn more about volunteer opportunities and how to get involved, they may visit the OPAIL Office and speak with Dr. Aida Lapira for guidance and support.
Through this meaningful collaboration, PSAU continues to uphold its mission of cultivating a culture of service, compassion, and civic responsibility among its students.
This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 – Quality Education, 10 – Reduced Inequalities, and 17 – Partnerships for the Goals. It promotes inclusive and equitable education by providing students access to global insights on civic engagement and service (SDG 4), empowers youth and marginalized communities to take active roles in society (SDG 10), and strengthens global and local partnerships for sustainable development through meaningful volunteerism (SDG 17). The collaborative spirit of the event underscores the university’s dedication to shaping socially responsible and globally aware citizens.
