On August 29, 2025, Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU), through its Office of Guidance and Testing, conducted a training titled “Basic Skills in Identifying the Problem of Suicide and Self-Harm and Recognizing the Warning Signs of Suicide among Learners” at the Rafael Lazatin Audio-Visual Center.
The training included lectures from PSAU’s mental health experts. Dr. Glenn M. Calaguas, RGC, LPT, Director of the Office of Guidance and Testing, discussed Mental Health Concepts and Contexts and Recognizing the Warning Signs of Suicide among Learners, giving participants practical strategies to identify at-risk students early.
Mr. Ferwin Precenillo, RPM, University Psychometrician, shared the Basics of Psychological First Aid, equipping class advisers with skills to give immediate and compassionate support to learners in distress.
The training was actively participated in by class advisers of the university, who play a crucial role in supporting students’ welfare and addressing their mental health concerns. This initiative reflects PSAU’s strong commitment to raising mental health awareness, safeguarding learners’ well-being, and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
