PhilOHUN, in collaboration with the USAID Infectious Disease Detection and Surveillance (IDDS) Project, spearheaded a one-week training on Specimen Collection, Handling, Packaging and Transport for Selected Zoonotic Diseases in Angeles City and the Pampanga State Agricultural University. Through this partnership, PSAU CVM faculty members were at the forefront of the didactics and demonstrations of proper specimen collection. Dr. Neil Tanquilut, Dr. Precy Magtoto, Dr. Aris Miclat, and Dr. Fe Bulao shared their valuable expertise on proper specimen collections specific to certain zoonotic diseases. This further enhanced the participants’ competencies on handling specimen for certain species such as swine, equine, poultry, and bats. Ultimately, this training aimed at furthering knowledge on One Health principles and its utilization on disease surveillance.
We are proud of our PSAU CVM professors for showcasing their expertise in the field and helping strengthen the capabilities of the next generation of One Health workforce in the country! Towards and beyond a healthier and secured future!
