On Friday, May 2, 2025, Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) held a specialized workshop titled “Primer Design for Multi-Gene Insertion into Plasmid Vectors and Bacterial Genome Engineering with CRISPR-Cas9” at the Circulation Section of the University Library. This advanced scientific session was led by DOST Balik Scientist Dr. Angelo B. Bañares.
The interactive workshop provided participants with hands-on knowledge on genetic engineering techniques, with a focus on primer design and CRISPR-Cas9 applications. It was attended by BS Biology students, faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Agricultural Systems and Technology, all eager to enhance their skills and understanding of modern gene editing technologies.
This initiative reflects PSAU’s commitment to scientific advancement and capacity-building in the fields of biotechnology and agriculture. By creating platforms for expert-led training, the university empowers its academic community to engage in cutting-edge research aligned with global scientific standards.
The workshop supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by promoting accessible, high-level learning opportunities and fostering collaboration with global Filipino experts through the Balik Scientist Program.
