Goals and Objectives
I. Library services to students
Objectives:
a. Assess how students use the library’s physical and virtual resources.
b. Gain input from all students in developing, implementing and evaluating library resources and services.
c. Collaborate and work with students to customize library resources and services that support their research and learning styles.
II. Library services to faculty and staff
III. Developing, managing, accessing, expanding, and preserving collections
Objectives:
a. Assess the library’s collections to determine strengths and weaknesses.
b. Purchase reference materials in print and non-print format.
c. Educate clients about the availability of materials in the library.
d. Prepare and identify priorities in funding resources for library materials.
e. Regularly obtain user feedback through usability tests, usage analysis and surveys.
f. Determine ways and/or develop technologies to make collections accessible through the open web and course management tools.
g. Gather and analyze usage statistics to determine which resources are under-utilized.
h. Meet research and curriculum needs of existing and emerging academic programs through gifts, donations, and fund raising opportunities.
IV. Adopting, managing and expanding library automation and promoting e-learning services
Objectives:
a. Promote the use of the Online Public Access Cataloging (OPAC) system tools as the library automation system to clients.
b. Establish a process to recommend and purchase new hardware and software for the e-Library.
c. Evaluate and assess the e-Learning supplementary program of the library through survey and feedback from users.
V. Empowering and developing Library Staff
Objectives:
a. Request additional librarians and assistant librarians to accommodate the growing population of students.
b. Attend trainings and seminars to develop and improve library staff input in library development strategies and objectives.
VI. Promoting library services, emphasizing importance of reading and proper awareness on the use the library collections, and building library network linkages
Objectives:
a. Conduct a library orientation and instruction to students, faculty and staff.
b. Organize a National Book Week Celebration and Book Lovers Club to promote and encourage the love of reading amongst students.
c. Facilitate and organize a Book Fair during the Book Week celebration to emphasize the importance of the library and to foster love for reading.
d. Register in different library organizations both local and international for library resource information sharing.
