BRIEF HISTORY

The University Library is a three-storey building located along PSAU Main Boulevard (Mango Ave.) situated after the University Food Center (UFC) and in front of the Multipurpose Center. It has a total floor area of 1,500 sq.m and was inaugurated last September 9, 2011.

MISSION

To provide updated informational resources, client-centered services, and technological advancement that will augment the learning of the students and sustain the instructional, research and extension programs of the faculty and staff.

VISION

It is envisioned that the Library will be technologically equipped and became a center for agricultural information not only in Pampanga and suburbs, but also globally competitive with other educational institutions.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

I. Library services to students

Objectives:
a. Assess how students use the libraryโ€™s physical and virtual resources.
b. Gain input from all students in developing, implementing and evaluating library resources and services.
c. Collaborate and work with students to customize library resources and services that support their research and learning styles.

II. Library services to faculty and staff

Objectives:

a. Promote the library and librariansโ€™ role as facilitator of information dissemination among faculty and staff.

b. Build partnership between faculty and staff in enhancing the library collections.

c. Collaborate with faculty and staff in designing and assessing library learning and research services.

III. Developing, managing, accessing, expanding, and preserving collections 

Objectives:
a. Assess the libraryโ€™s collections to determine strengths and weaknesses.
b. Purchase reference materials in print and non-print format.
c. Educate clients about the availability of materials in the library.
d. Prepare and identify priorities in funding resources for library materials.
e. Regularly obtain user feedback through usability tests, usage analysis and surveys.
f. Determine ways and/or develop technologies to make collections accessible through the open web and course management tools.
g. Gather and analyze usage statistics to determine which resources are under-utilized.
h. Meet research and curriculum needs of existing and emerging academic programs through gifts, donations, and fundraising opportunities.

IV. Adopting, managing, and expanding library automation and promoting e-learning services

Objectives:
a. Promote the use of the Online Public Access Cataloging (OPAC) system tools as the library automation system for clients.
b. Establish a process to recommend and purchase new hardware and software for the e-Library.
c. Evaluate and assess the e-Learning supplementary program of the library through surveys and feedback from users.

V. Empowering and developing Library Staff

Objectives:
a. Request additional librarians and assistant librarians to accommodate the growing population of students.
b. Attend training and seminars to develop and improve library staff input in library development strategies and objectives.

VI. Promoting library services, emphasizing the importance of reading and proper awareness on the use the library collections, and building library network linkages

Objectives:
a. Conduct a library orientation and instruction to students, faculty, and staff.
b. Organize a National Book Week Celebration and Book Lovers Club to promote and encourage the love of reading amongst students.
c. Facilitate and organize a Book Fair during the Book Week celebration to emphasize the importance of the library and to foster love for reading.
d. Register in different library organizations both local and international for library resource information sharing.

PROPER CONDUCT IN THE LIBRARY

  • Noise, disturbance, or inappropriate behavior is prohibited. This includes abusive or threatening behavior to library staff and other library users.
  • No food is permitted in the library building. Anyone found to be eating in the library will be asked to dispose of the food.
  • Smoking (including smoking of electronic and herbal cigarettes) is not permitted in the library building.
  • The use of mobile phones is allowed in the library. However, disruptive use is prohibited.
  • The library users are asked to treat other users with consideration.
  • Any materials with official notices from the University Administration may be distributed or posted in the library upon the permission of the Head Librarian.
  • Misuse as well as altering the arrangement of library furniture and equipment is not allowed.
  • Reserving study spaces by leaving personal belongings is not advised. Library users must bring their belongings to allow others to use the study spaces. (It is not advisable to bring a large number of bags when study spaces are packed.)
  • Unattended belongings are the responsibility of the owner and not the staff. Leaving valuables is strongly not advised.
  • Any damage or defacement of library materials is strictly prohibited. Users found damaging such will be subjected to disciplinary procedures.
  • Library users are asked to report any instances of damage or defacement to the library staff.
  • Charging of electronic devices (laptop, cellphone, etc.) is not allowed.
  • Library users are not allowed to switch on/off the air-condition units.
  • Students who are not wearing School ID and uniform are not allowed to use the library. Students must either be wearing their school uniform, PE uniform, or college shirt.
