On Thursday, April 24, 2025, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) conducted a benchmarking activity at Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU), focusing on the enhancement of student affairs and services. The visit aimed to exchange best practices and insights on several core areas, including guidance and counseling, career and job placement services, student government operations, campus journalism, multi-faith and spiritual development, scholarship and financial assistance, as well as student housing and residential services.
Through open discussions and collaborative sessions, both institutions explored innovative approaches to improve student support systems. Topics such as ethical communication in student publications, inclusive spiritual programs, effective scholarship processes, and dynamic student leadership structures were among the key highlights of the activity.
PSAU was represented by Dr. Arnello S. Valerio, Director for Student Affairs and Services, together with unit heads and student leaders from the Supreme Student Council. Meanwhile, DMMMSU was led by Prof. Joel C. Agullo, Head of Student Affairs and Services, along with their own unit heads and student leaders. This initiative is a testament to the shared dedication of both institutions to fostering excellence in education and empowering student communities.
The activity strongly aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, which promotes inclusive and equitable learning opportunities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which emphasizes the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable development.
